I know you and I don’t see eye-to-eye on certain things, but I am in complete agreement with you on this. If people would just take a minute to look at a situation from the other side, to think about something besides their own pain or hurt or desire, the world would be unrecognizable. In a good way.

I contemplated going the law route in college, but after a month interning at a DA’s office in the Sexual Assault and Family Violence unit, I knew I could never do it. I could never turn off the pain I felt in hearing about a woman who, in anger, through acid on her husband’s face and lit him on fire. I couldn’t bare to watch a young girl being verbally intimidated by her father’s lawyer as she confessed to her molestation as a child. Even if I could compartmentalize these kinds of things, I would never want to. The world needs more people like you, people with compassion. There is enough apathy these days, “what the world needs now, is love.”

The only thing I can say, is that the silver lining in this situation is that the child will no longer be in a dangerous home. I’m sure their life will not be easy, but let’s pray they’re safe and loved.

I worked for DCFS before I had kids- and yea, I got really hard and good at shutting it off as it was awful the things I saw- one of my clients once asked how I could do this job if I didn’t even have kids— but you know I don’t think I could have done it if I did. Would have been so hard to shut off and not always be really really mad at the parents.

It’s making me crazy how I’ve friended news shows on facebook and everything that shows up in my feed is something negative. It makes me sad. It’s hard living a content life knowing that there is so much wrong and hate in the world.
