That’s interesting about the domestic violence thing, and I seriously hope it’s not true. A rape survivor myself, I know I’m probably going to be in for a very… different labor when the time comes, but knowing that you got through it just fine (if a little weary!) really boosts my confidence.

Thanks again… it was an incredible, inspiring read. 🙂

There is so much when it comes to giving birth that many women just won’t talk about. They say something like, “Oh, it was all over when I had him/her in my arms” – yeah, but who cares? I want the nasty details! (The probably most honest thing a friend ever said was that it was like, “sh*tting bricks”.)

Having been a victim can maka labor harder? Gee, thanks. I fully refuse to let that ruin any more parts of my life.

I don’t know if I like the whole idea that being a victim of domestic violence makes labor more painful. Having never been a victim, I can tell you that my second labor was terrible. I was puking and staring to pass out from the pain and was making no cervical change. In fact, if I hadn’t gotten an epidural, I would have ended up with a c-section. Labor is just tough. And some people have easier labors that others; I don’t think it means that some women are weak and some women are strong.

The important thing is healthy mother and healthy baby.
