I am still around, though not posting as often as I’d like to. It’s been several days since you submitted this comment, so you’ve taken some action already, but here are my thoughts:

It is likely that the indigo overpowered the henna, especially if you didn’t use lemon juice or some other acid. Indigo acts instantly with just water, henna needs to be mixed with an acid and allowed to sit for 12 hours for maximum dye release. I would recommend just henna-ing over your dark hair again. And take heart in the fact that indigo fades, where henna really doesn’t so your hair will become progressively more light and red even if you take no action.

I hope that helps. Let me know how it turns out!

When you say your hair is almost black after coloring, how “almost black” is it? I did henna and indigo on my natural red (and grey) hair yesterday and it really is almost black. Dark burgundy, maybe. I’m more that a little scared. I’ve used henna and indigo before, but this has never happened. I think I left it on a bit longer than usual, and I didn’t use lemon juice this time. Now I’m thinking that made the indigo a lot stronger than usual.

The henna I buy for about $13 per pound is Frontier brand, but I don’t order it online. I purchase it from a local natural foods store. This post is about a year old, and I believe the price has gone up a little. The same high quality henna I purchase from Frontier is available online now for $17 – $19 per pound here: http://www.frontiercoop.com/products.php?ct=hchhaz&cn=Henna+Leaf%2C+Red

I lose about 7-8 every time I brush it, so that’s about 100 per week, give or take. I guess that must be noraml~Are you sure you’re not mixing other things to cause your hair to fall out in clumps? Ex:Supplements, steroids, hereditary, hair dyes perming, straightening, diet, having babies (yes I read once it happened to her), stress, medications with testosterone, certain antidepressants, menopause, anti-acne, and too much of everything. Add to that the 7,000 + toxic found in your home, plus pollution found outdoors.
