Well, I haven’t noticed any changes personally since the announcement, but I’m sure they will come. This is far from my area of expertise, but it is my understanding that this will result in many positive and negative changes. Pensioners may well suffer losses based on this decision while those underserved by utilities and city services may see improvements.

There is definitely a mixed feeling. I see a sort of disappointment in people; it is almost like admitting defeat to own this bankruptcy, but at the same time it is the best hope of digging out of the hole that 50 years of population loss created.

Again, I’m no expert, but I think this is a good thing in the long run. Detroit is on the edge of this amazing explosion of entrepreneurship, enterprise, and beautification, and I think getting a hold on the city’s financial situation may be the next major step in fully grasping the massive amounts of potential that exist here.
