With limited computer access in the midst of this move and the keyboard on my phone giving out, my next couple posts will be short. I wanted to float the idea of a new feature, though: a green news update. Stephanie over at The Coexist Cafe did an excellent Wednesday perk up featuring interesting news and blog posts each week, and I really enjoyed it. I’m wondering if my wonderful readers would enjoy something similar?
For today, I’m starting small (because of the aforementioned computer and phone issues). Here are a few interesting pieces I’ve been looking at lately:
Women at the Center of a Sustainable World – While world sustainability is a complicated issue, the simple act of supporting women and reproductive rights has the potential to make a huge difference.
Check out the two most recent posts on a favorite green blog of mine, Sustainable Personal Finance. These tow articles discuss more efficient ways to heat and cool your home and having “just enough” principle to go green.
And a little sustainability lesson from the ancients: Sustainability of our Ancient Ancestors. Touching on the more efficient ways the ancients engaged aquaculture, which is one of of today’s most destructive practices, and suggestions for using that wisdom today.
Finally, revisiting one of my favorite money saving sustainability tips, learn to Regrow Vegetables from Kitchen Scraps. In addition to those listed in the article, I’ve had huge success regrowing beet greens (and new beets down below) and green onions. This one is so simple and fruitful, I don’t know why anyone would hesitate to embrace it!
If you publish green news or tips for everyday sustainability, shoot me an email to be included in the next round-up. I am TheUrbanEarthworm at gmail.
What do yo think of this feature? Is it something you’d like to see more of in the future? Especially when I’m able to put something more comprehensive together on the computer. Let me know.
I have regrown green onions before, it really is cool how easily they regrow.
